The Challenge

Families walk into school meetings carrying folders, screenshots, and memories of conversations that happened months ago. When documents and communication are scattered, parents spend the meeting reconstructing history instead of participating in decisions about their child.

The Solution

School Meeting Ready is designed as a parent-controlled workspace for preparing for school meetings and managing educational plans, documents, and communication over time — so a family arrives organized, with their own record and their own questions ready.

The Audience

  • Parents and caregivers preparing for school meetings
  • Family advocates and support organizations
  • Community agencies supporting families

Current Stage

Concept

A concept in development. We are interested in partners — family organizations, advocacy groups, community agencies — to help shape it.

Learning & design principles

What guides the decisions.

01

Parent-controlled

The family owns the record. The tool serves the family's preparation, not an institution's process.

02

Preparation builds participation

Organized information lets a parent contribute to decisions rather than react to them.

03

Plain language

Educational processes carry heavy terminology; the tool should reduce it, not add to it.

What It Can Do

  • A single place for educational plans and related documents
  • Communication history kept in order over time
  • Meeting preparation support, including questions to bring
  • A family-held record that travels across school years
